road run 30:00 [3] 4.0 km (7:30 / km)

Damp, dreary dismal day. So, much, rain! Too much for January. At +10.
Killed Highlands - everything cancelled with freezing rain warnings for later. So I drove back home while it was still rain so I could pick up Goose and his mom at the airport tonight.
Tested my new Arcteryx rain jacket when I jogged in the torrential downpour. It kept me dry but my god it's noisy material.

classic ski (Highlands) 1:40:00 [3] 15.0 km (6:40 / km)

Misty moisty mushy marshmallow snow - slow. And sad:(. It was well above zero and so damp the snow was just disintegrating. But there was still a track and it wasn't ice. It was better for classic than skate and I managed to get all the way around the system, even the back red with some very dirty rocky spots but you could still get around. And it's all be gone tomorrow.

skate ski (Mono) 1:25:00 [3] 15.0 km (5:40 / km)

Late morning ski at Mono, when the temps had warmed slightly. It was a bit thin in spots but they got a decent cover yesterday/last night so it was ok. Did 3 x 3:30/with 30 sec. rest on a loop with a big downhill, short flat and a big uphill. Also did some legs only and double poling and saw only 1 other person. It was nice:)

Note

Made soup to take to my former colleagues on the teacher picket line. Then walked with them in the howling north wind for a couple of hours. We were well-dressed but it was pretty chilly. The soup was appreciated.

skate ski (practice) 45:00 [3]

Just a thin but sugary layer of snow on the fields, but enough to skate on rock skis, with some grassy obstacles. So we did a tour of Humberview, some short relays and another tour. Nice day - for March.

classic ski (park) 35:00 [3]

Did a little classic technique/teaching clinic this morning at Highlands but sadly, couldn't stay to ski. Happily there was just enough snow at home to do a wee lap of the park. Not a lot of snow, no ice base just grass but enough to slide around on for a bit:). We need more!!!

classic ski (Highlands) 20:00 [3] 3.0 km (6:40 / km)

Pre-ski to see what was covered and what wax would be good. It was lovely (and VR45 worked as well as Toko red tube at -4 >-3, fresh soft snow on top of crusty stuff))
9 AM

classic ski (lesson) 1:00:00 [3] 3.0 mi (20:00 / mi)

Lesson with the wives of the guys who were last yesterday (all from Spain) and they weren't as athletic/fit but they were just as nice and so happy to have an hour without children:)
10 AM

classic ski (Highlands) 1:40:00 [3] 18.0 km (5:33 / km)

It was such nice classic skiing I went for a loop on my own then started a second lap when I caught up with Morrie who's training for the CSM so I skied and chatted with him for an extended loop. Very, very nice ski
(and conversation).
1 PM

skate ski (masters' clinic) 3:00:00 [3]

Signed up at the last minute for a skate clinic with Gord Salt and Sean Bechtel. Always good to stay up-to-date with technique. It was a strong group of very keen and fit adults who could ski fairly well so we had a great afternoon. Lots of one-skate timing ad balance drills, off-setting and got filmed. Worthwhile:)
