skate ski (coaching) 45:00 [3]

Clear, cold crisp morning at -17 but no wind. Spectacular:)
Worked with a skier on skate technique
10 AM

classic ski (coaching) 45:00 [3] 3.0 km (15:00 / km)

Worked with another athlete on classic transitions out on the trail up top and down. Rib was sore. Snow and sky were worth it.
11 AM

classic ski (lesson) 45:00 [3]

Not-so-fun lesson with 2 5yr.-olds and 2 7-yr.olds, all beginners. 2 sets of siblings and helicopter parents. Bit of a disaster and hard on the rib picking up tangled bodies. Very sore afterward.
1 PM

classic ski (steady ski) 2:50:00 [3] 30.0 km (5:40 / km)

Absolutely perfect winter day! The snow conditions were fantastic and the sun was shining. Had to get out despite being pretty sore. I'm supposed to keep moving and wasn't moving well to start but eventually loosened up and got a nice classic rhythm going. Did an EFI ski and more. The Woolner was lovely so I did it twice :). It was just so perfect. A classic day for sure but even skaters were happy. Lots of happy skiers today!

classic ski (Highlands) 40:00 [3] 5.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

Slow, flat ski trying to loosen up my shoulder blade/rib. It hurt:(. But eventually did loosen up a bit.

skate ski (Highlands) 20:00 [3] 3.0 km (6:40 / km)

Legs only skate on the green a couple of times on great new snow - like skiing on a cloud.
12 PM

classic ski (lessons) 2:00:00 [3]

Classic lessons with international high school students from China - with NO snow experience at all. Hadn't ever glided. They were great and we had a really good day. The sun came out, the fresh snow was beautiful and the smiles were awesome.

skate ski (coaching) 2:00:00 [3]

Toodled back and forth legs only on the race course at Goose's race at Highlands. Excellent snow conditions and the racing was good. But I'm still hurting.

Note

My rib/shoulder blade is not better. Visited Thumbs-of-death today who confirmed it is indeed a rib issue, likely subluxed. Felt a bit better afterward but it's pretty stuck. Sneezing is excruciating. So tried not to do much today (as in no moving old, large, heavy TVs like yesterday). Which was hard today with so much brilliant sunshine and blue skies. Skiing would have been amazing :(. But I did get out for a good long walk.

skate ski (practice) 1:00:00 [3]

Crusty bumpy but skiable. The track was good so we did several laps legs only (so as not to put holes in the new rubberized track), and some one-skate balance work on the field/

skate ski (Highlands) 1:20:00 [3] 16.0 km (5:00 / km)

What a brilliant day! Beautiful blue skies and sweet snow. Too bad my rib/chest was so painful. I just couldn't really pole or breathe hard. Goose took of for a big long fast ski but I stayed down below, avoided big hills and mostly skated legs only - and it was still awesome! Such spring-like easy skiing:)

skate ski (Highlands) 4:00:00 [3]

4 lessons in a row was all my rib could handle. Didn't make it past the sugar shack. But I did some short hills and balance work with the people I was instructing.
