trail Run (HVtrail) 40:00 [3] 5.0 km (8:00 / km)

Still windy and chilly this morning but bright. I ran the trail and didn't see anyone except the doggie people in the field in the park. When I finished a cop pulled up to the park parking lot gate, parked and actually turned off the vehicle. Then he got out and walked around Glasgow Rd. I think. Presumably he was on park patrol to make sure people weren't gathering or playing football or something.

orienteering (HVtrail) 40:00 [3]

Damn nippy out there today with that north wind! After another baking spree - hot crossed buns - I set out to check my flags and add some new ones for Kevin and Gunda on the east side of the map. I must say I'm getting to know the Valley and area very well and there are lots of steep, deep ravines, and lots of deer runs. Disturbed several deer today, and a wild turkey and a spruce hen - scared the bejeesus outta me!

Note

Kind of a rest day. Rode to Susie's and then up the valley, with my broom bungeed to my bike frame, to the paved trail to sweep up all the horrible glass. I may have looked a little bit like a witch I think:)
You wouldn't exactly want eat off the pavement now, but you're a lot less likely to get a flat. That was my deed of the day, along with shopping for Susie, which was so stressful!

cycling (road) 1:30:00 [3] 30.0 km (3:00 / km)

Another mild day, grey morning that cleared by late afternoon to a lovely 14 degrees. Bit of NW wind but no complaints. I had a nice shorter ride in the sunshine:).

Deed:
- picked up a lot of the broken glass on the paved trail on Duffy's Lane. (Who throws glass bottles on purpose to break them onto a trail?!). There has been a pile of shards of broken ceramic plates there since last fall. People have gradually been kicking them off to one side but there are still plenty that could puncture a tire, in addition to the broken glass. I need to go back with a broom.)
- donation to the Exchange food bank

cycling (road/rail trail) 2:07:00 [3] 47.0 km (2:42 / km)

A lovely morning, not as bright and clear as yesterday but no real wind and very mild. Stayed pretty local, up to the rail trail off Humber Station, saw only a few people till Cal. East where it was pretty busy - too many people for me to feel comfortable. So we went on Old Base for a bit. The wide shoulder is nice. Headed down Kennedy, another wide shoulder and then back east on Boston Mills to Castlederg. We saw very. very few cars, except when I tried to stop for a pee on Boston Mills. Why would there be 6 cars evenly spread out on a gravel sideroad so that one appeared every time I was about to drop trou'?!
It was a nice ride, in what may be the last of the nice weather for a while, and becoming more frowned upon.

Dee:
- dropped off some dinners and baked goodies at Tman's house

hiking (Oak Ridges) 2:45:00 [3] 13.0 km (12:42 / km)

Brilliant blue sky and warming temps today. Goose checked and the Oak Ridges Moraine trail is still officially open so we packed a lunch and headed up Humber Station. Hiked from Finnerty to the Dingle, down the road allowance, checked out the fly fishing club ponds and hiked back. It got pleasantly warm and I even hiked the last bit in shorts:). We didn't see a soul on the trail, just a couple of bikers and cars on the road sections. Very quiet - except for the spring peepers which started their choruses this past week. The sound was amazing. We are so lucky we can still get out there. But it may not last.

Deeds:
- 2 meals and goodies to an elderly fellow
- bread to Bash and Bent

cycling (road/rail trail) 2:10:00 [3] 40.0 km (3:15 / km)

Grey morning turned sunny later but stayed fairly cool with a NE wind. Goose went on a long ride but I wasn't up to that so I did a shorter one but did ride up the big Mt.Pleasant character-building hill. Headed west on the rail trail and dropped off some goodies at the Pinet's.

Deeds:
- baked hot crossed buns and gave some to neighbours, Margo.
- made donation to food bank
