cycling long (road/rail trail) 4:45:00 [3] 100.0 km (2:51 / km)

Hot summer day. not too much wind, supposed threat of afternoon thunderstorms that again never materialized. Goose was busy unpacking and drying canoe trip gear so I went off meandering the Caledon countryside. Went up to the rail trail, west right to the terminus in Terra Cotta. Then onto Winston Churchill to Old School, back north again at Creditview for a drink and snack stop in Cheltenham. Back up to the rail trail to Inglewood, then up McLaughlin to the Grange and east to Caledon East with another pit stop at 4 Corners for a drink and food. I headed east on the rail trail to Mt. Pleasant and then back to Mt. Hope on Hunsden and home. Good day :) So glad someone thought it would be a good idea to buy the railroad allowance and turn it into a trailway in Caledon. So sad no one in Halton had the forethought to do the same.

Note

Felt kind of tired today and it was forecast to rain with chance of thunderstorms so I decided to take a rest day. No rain, very hot so I finished painting the fence. Finally. Then thought I'd go for a short tun. It was hot and I wasn't feeling it , so it jumped in the river and cooled off and walked home in the river:)

cycling (road/rail trail) 2:20:00 [3] 53.0 km (2:38 / km)

Bit windy from the west but I had a good ride in the shade on the rail trail west to Kennedy then back on Old Baseline to Cal. East and onto the rail trail again. The eastbound section was sweet:)

canoeing (Island Lake) 1:30:00 [3] 8.0 km (11:15 / km)

Such a nice fresh morning, and calm. Took the red rocket over to Island Lake and got on the water for a solo loop before the breezes came up. Seemed to be lots of herons fishing and flying today. Saw an egret too and some turtles, but not many people. Had the lake to myself for a while and even then it was one family with kayaks. Weird not to see fisher people on the water early. They were there later. Another lovely morning,
We are so lucky we live where I do,
where we can do the things we like to
even with the evil Corona virus
on our minds and lurking around us
there' s so much beauty still to be found
stunning sights and stirring sounds
sunrises and sunsets and big black clouds
birdsongs and breezes and thunderstorms loud
flowers and grasses, even overgrown weeds
butterflies and turtles and tall shady trees
if we take time to look,we don't have to go far
to find the wonders of nature in our own "backyard"

Took my towel to a shady spot and did balances, abs/back ex, planks and a great stretch overlooking the water.

trail Run (Island Lake) 40:00 [3] 5.0 km (8:00 / km)

After paddling I went for a nice run on the Sugar Bush and Memorial Trails. No big hills but lots of nice trees:)

cycling (road/rail trail) 2:30:00 [3] 55.0 km (2:44 / km)

Beautiful bright fresh morning, and breezy but soooo nice. Rode a lot of hills up Centreville Creek, down Innis Lake, across Old Church and the rail trail through Palgrave and over to Mt. Hope then home. It was a gorgeous morning.

park run tempo (park) 30:00 [3] 4.0 km (7:30 / km)

Nice cool morning and my only chance to get in some activity today so I did a quick (for me) run around the doggie loop, peace park and soccer fields.

cycling (road/rail trail) 2:40:00 [3] 61.0 km (2:37 / km)

Goose and I thought we'd squeeze in a short ride before the forecast rain and thunderstorms - that once again never happened. He peeled off early to help his mom but I kept riding under heavy grey skies but there was no wind and it wasn't hot . I felt good and climbed a fair few of the Caledon Hills with a bit of a break on the rail trail for a while.
