skate ski (Highlands) 1:50:00 [3] 22.0 km (5:00 / km)

What a March break-looking day! The sun was shining, the evestroughs were dripping, and everyone was smiling:). Another steady, busy day at Highlands. I went out at the end of the day to shoo people off the trails and sweep. Did the whole course in reverse and felt awesome. The temps were dropping and it just got faster.

snowshoeing (escarpment) 1:00:00 [3]

Slow but stunning snowshoe hike out the door over the field and along the stream then up the escarpment into the woods and down. So much blue sky, blue bay, bright sunshine. SO pretty.
2 PM

classic ski (Castle Glen) 1:30:00 [3] 8.5 km (10:35 / km)

Goose and I parked at the Miller house and went for an exploratory ski around The Lake of the Clouds, some off trail in the bush, some on walking/snowshoe trail, some on kicked in trail, some on the lake and it was gorgeous up there. The sun was shining, the snow was sparkling and the skis were sliding. We are soooo lucky!

classic ski (Highlands) 1:30:00 [3] 17.5 km (5:09 / km)

The day dawned bright and just got clearer and bluer. A beauty:)
Goose and I met up with the Thurs. ladies and we chose to classic because it was relatively "cold" at -5. The dusting of snow last night took the glaze off the tracks and they were splendid. We had such a nice ski in the sunshine. Couldn't help but smile the whole time.

skate ski (Highlands) 1:30:00 [3] 18.0 km (5:00 / km)

Met Mrs. Huet and Deb B. for a supposedly social skate. They were leaving me in the dust though until I made them slow down and do some technique drills. After that we were good:) Conditions are still good but it felt like we needed just a few cms of fresh snow. First world problem. We're pretty damn lucky we've had it so good for a month: a great pile of snow, gorgeous grooming and the trails are allowed to stay open. May not last but it's been a blessing so far.
6 PM

classic ski (Highlands) 1:00:00 [3] 10.0 km (6:00 / km)

First night of lit night skiing and it was a happening spot! Never seen so many cars on Wed. night there. Very happy patrons out with headlamps skiing and fat biking. The lights are basically on the blue loop and it was really nice. I met Hermes up there and we had a chatty ski mostly on the lit loop but did the back orange as well and then Teal's Tango to finish. A fine baby powdery snow fell softly for about an hour and it took the icy edge off the trail and tracks. I was classic skiing and my wax was perfect:). My back was getting a bit tight but not too bad.

skate ski (Highlands) 1:30:00 [3] 18.0 km (5:00 / km)

After a very slow but entertaining classic lap of teal's Tango with my new Spanish friends Neda and her twins Hugo and Luca, I met Susie and JennC. for a nice skate tour of Highlands. The snow is fast, not washed out icy but there's ice in the snow and the tracks were glazed, hard and fast. I'm slow though. I just can't go their pace I'm just always hanging on. Gettin' old.

planks, balances, table tops etc. stretching. Right side back/glut is quite painful every morning. A nerve issue I'm sure.
3 PM

skate ski (Highlands) 1:35:00 [3] 19.0 km (5:00 / km)

Caught up on regular life after a crazy weekend working. Then Goose and I went for a good skate on quiet trails. The snow and grooming are still fantastic:). Absolutely no pain skiing, just putting my socks on in the morning.

skate ski (Highlands) 1:00:00 [3] 12.0 km (5:00 / km)

Got to do the "sweep" job at the end of the day at Highlands again. And it was lovely out again. The light at dusk was amazing. Sadly, some nearby equestrians thought the back red looked like a nice trail to take their horses on:(. Seriously? Did they really think it was no problem to just put big divets and postholes right down the middle of the skate trail, and classic track?!
