skate ski (Highlands) 1:00:00 [3] 5.0 mi (12:00 / mi)
Crazy busy again today. Brilliant blue skies and warmer than yesterday meant more people came out and lots were newbies to Highlands and beginner skiers. Which = more incidents of irregular stuff.
1. The first aggressive and obnoxious person to argue heatedly about the Covid screen we require. Insisting he had done it, correctly, exactly the same as he always does. "And I can PROVE it! You are wrong. I'm going to hire a lawyer..." Unbelieveable. Sadly he was wearing a C3 hat which kind of gives that club a bad name. He had done the screening for Scenic Caves.
2. Older man out on the back orange. Wife calls to say he's having chest pains and can't ski back. Has to be treated as a potential heart attack. I skied all over trying to find him. Finally found him 1/2 way down to the hairpin, Walking. Talking. The fire truck and ambulance were in the parking lot, that had to be partially cleared, when he arrived by snowmobile and he was taken to the hospital to be checked.
3. A fast skier who had, by several accounts, basically skied right over more than one person out on the trail and was described as rude, tore a strip off me when I asked her if there had been some kind of collision out on the back red and was everyone ok. In a thick Russian accent, and with considerable volume, she laid into me in front of the chalet about my "accusations" and denied vehemently any such incident. Then went on a rampage about weak slow skiers and how they shouldn't be out on the trails (in her way) etc. etc.
Wow. So much for trail etiquette.
4. The trails close at 4:30. People were still trying to head out onto the trails at 4:20. There were still more than 30 cars in the parking lot at 5:00.
What is wrong with these people?!
