skate ski (Frame Lake) 40:00 [3] 7.0 km (5:43 / km)

Bright beautiful spring-like day. Got the Girls out for her first postpartum ski. It was up to -7 and lovely skate conditions. We did an easy ski partway around the lake and she did fine but that was long enough. Goose and I finished the loop.
2 PM

skate ski (Yellowknife) 2:00:00 [3] 22.0 km (5:27 / km)

It was just too nice out not to go back out. Skated around Frame Lake to the connector trail to Niven Lake then over to the ski club. Did the full loop there and skied home. Beautiful:)

skate ski (Yellowknife) 45:00 [3] 8.0 km (5:38 / km)

Quite nippy again this morning but there was no wind and the sun shone brightly again:)
Goose and I waxed our skis at the club and did a short ski before heading down to the Old Town to catch the start of the dogsled races. Then we went out to the Girl's house in Dettach and took baby Goose out for a walk on the lake to watch his first dogsled race.

classic ski (Yellowknife) 2:40:00 [3] 23.0 km (6:57 / km)

Brilliant day again, and no wind:). Goose and I skied from the ski club out onto Back Bay under an enormous wide open sky on wide open snow. Saw a bald eagle. There were lots of skidoo tracks to ski on and a huge plowed trail for this weekend's dog sled races. It was lovely to not feel raw wind on our faces. I finished up on the ski club trails and saw the lynx again. Great ski!

skate ski (Frame Lake) 1:20:00 [3] 16.0 km (5:00 / km)

Another perfectly clear blue sky but -26 this morning felt as cold as ever, especially with a raw east wind. The "guerilla groomer" was out yesterday though so the track around the lake was in good shape and the skating wasn't bad by late afternoon.

classic ski (Dettah) 1:00:00 [3] 9.0 km (6:40 / km)

After going to town for appointments with the Girls and baby Goose I headed out from her place to Duck Lake and back. Super bright and sunny again but a bitter east wind turned me back. The glide was pretty good but my face was freezing.

classic ski (Frame Lake) 50:00 [3] 8.0 km (6:15 / km)

Very bright sunny day but bloody cold. -31 to start and got up to -21. Doesn't take much wind to make that feel bitter. I was able to stay mostly sheltered along the shore of the lake.

skate ski warm up/down (Yellowknife) 45:00 [3] 8.0 km (5:38 / km)

Bright but cold first day of spring. -25 this morning and it only went up to -19 this afternoon. Just warm enough to be allowed to start a ski race. It was not fast snow. Did the course and some extra loops to warm up and again to cool down.
2 PM

skate ski race (Yellowknife) 35:00 [3] 7.5 km (4:40 / km)

To celebrate the vernal equinox I got to do my first race - of any kind - in more than a year! The course at the YK ski club is quite nice and rolling with only one steep hill. But it wasn't a fast skate day with such scratchy, cold snow. It was still fun and the people are great there. Not a big field of women. 5. But the 18 year-old racer who should have won, dropped out after 2 laps. So I am the territorial champ!
