9 AM

skate ski (Highlands) 1:05:00 [3] 13.0 km (5:00 / km)

Got in an early ski before the day's events began. The conditions were great and gliding was easy but not rocket fast.
10 AM

classic ski (practice) 2:20:00 [3] 19.0 km (7:22 / km)

Today all the racing groups and Jackrabbits took part in a virtual Canadian Ski Marathon. The coaches and parents skied with them and "patrolled" to make sure everyone was ok. It was awesome to see so many small kids, as well as bigger ones out challenging themselves to ski a distance that was hard for them. Our biathlon kids did a great job with most doing 30km or more:)
1 PM

classic ski (lessons) 2:00:00 [3] 5.0 km (24:00 / km)

One beginner and one advanced lesson - for someone who did part of the Canadian Ski Marathon last weekend as a Randonneur! She wanted to try skins.
4 PM

skate ski (Highlands) 1:10:00 [3] 13.0 km (5:23 / km)

One more loop of the marathon course in the peace and quiet after the weekend crowd was gone.

9 AM

classic ski (lessons) 3:00:00 [3] 10.0 km (18:00 / km)

An adult private lesson, and then a school group. All pretty capable but we got a fair dump of snow overnight and it continued all day so there was a lot of fluffy stuff to plow through. Didn't look like it had even been groomed. Lovely:)
3 PM

classic ski (Highlands) 45:00 [3] 8.0 km (5:38 / km)

Got out for a nice peaceful ski by myself to finish the day. The thick layer of fresh soft snow muffled all sounds and it felt like being on a cloud. Winter is back, maybe?

10 AM

classic ski (WOW) 1:00:00 [3] 4.0 km (15:00 / km)

Stayed overnight at the Jones' house in Huntsville with Mrs. Huet so we could go up to the Arrowhead "Women of Winter" Day this morning. I instructed a group of intermediate classic skiers and after 4 days of glorious bright sunny days, we started off in pouring rain. It was on and off all day but the women were undaunted and the snow held up ok. It was a good session followed by a nice hot lunch.
1 PM

skate ski (Arrowhead) 1:10:00 [3] 11.0 km (6:22 / km)

After lunch and a guest speaker (Wendy Grater from Blackfeather) presentation about a ski tour from the north end of Baffin Island to the south end, Mrs. Huet, Barb Hesk and 2 of her friends, and I went for a somewhat soggy skate ski around the lake. The gliding was still pretty good and we had a lovely ski with several stops, but we were happy to get out of soaking wet stuff when we finished.
Made the most of the day:)

skate ski (Highlands) 2:25:00 [3] 30.0 km (4:50 / km)

Fourth morning in a row of beautiful blue sky and bright sunshine:)
Too bad I set out exactly when the Flowers did - so was obliged to try to keep up with them. Doing their "tempo" 5km skate. We have different tempos so I never really saw them after about 100m but it did give me a kick in the butt to work hard. We did a nice cool down together afterward before they thankfully had to get to work.
Then I skied a couple of loops by myself at a more civilized pace.

8 AM

skate ski (Highlands) 1:00:00 [3] 12.0 km (5:00 / km)

Got onto the trails first thing before the school group came, and it was sweet sking:). Buttery and smooth, the glide was amazing, the sun was shining and the view of the bay was breathtaking. Never gets old.
10 AM

classic ski (classes) 3:00:00 [3] 8.0 km (22:30 / km)

Very nice, fit, competent group of gr.7-8 kids from Beaver Valley. today and we had a lot of fun. They were easily able to get up the hills and out on the trails. on another spring-like ski day.

9 AM

skate ski (Highlands) 2:30:00 [3] 28.0 km (5:21 / km)

Another super sunny, March-Break-like day. Awesome fast conditions this morning, perfect grooming.
I got out early, first tracks in a couple of spots. Started out with Jackie Tarno but her legs were pretty baked from the Snowshoe Raid yesterday so I skied alone after a while. The back Red was glorious:)
Then met up with the biathletes for a bit of technique work before long zone1 skate and did it all again. Feeling sunburnt.
