Orienteering race (State League) 47:57 [3] *** 4.29 km (11:11 / km)
17c shoes: OROC 380
State League 10 - Belanglo State Forest - Miners Despair
All on the line today. I needed 2 wins in the nest 4 events to outright win. But today was not going to be it. RL got it and drew himself level with me on 5 wins apeice for the season.
Was a day marred by mistakes. Can i blame it on wterproofing fumes and assignments... maybe not but i'm going to.
Misread totally the contours on 2 and stood on the spur next to it wondering where all the rocks were!?!. Got my head together and 3, 4 were on the money. The leg to 5 was too low and missed the gully i wanted and had to backtrack. 6-11 were all on the money. 12 i was too far to the left despite following a good north line. to 14 i stayed descended and stayed low until the car wreck and then powered up the hill. 15 was a absolute disaster must have walked past the control at least twice :( give me a nice new flag anyday this one was so faded it was nearly the colour of the rock. RL passed me at this point and i knew it was all over as he had started at least 6 minutes behind me. the run home from here was straight forward.
NB: MB beat me for the first time this season (at least with a run that actually counted)
