State League 11 - Baronga Creek (Red 7)

Judgement Day - needed to win or at least beat RL to maintain my top spot on the league ladder - FAIL!!!

RL started 2 mins behind me and caught me by the 1st control. To which my approach has me stumped - for some reason i went high ealry and had to cross the gully from one side to the other rather than run the gully from the start :(

We dogged each other until control 3 when I assumed he got ahead of me as he is faster on tracks and it was a track leg from 3 to 4. So i put the pedal down and dug deep. 4 and 5 were good. Maybe should have not descended between 5 and 6 and tried to contour around. 6-7 to far to the left and had to readjust. 7-8 entered the green to early which slowed me down some. 8-9 stayed on the track and then contoured around to the control which seemed much higher. 9-10 considered hitting the track again but decided to chance it and run the pine tracks. Turns out this was a great idea as there were new trails that were reasonably clear which made the run easy. 10-11 - is it fell apart. fixated on a rock i could see that was the right height and missed the fact it was only supposed to be 2 contour lines off the creek. I went 5 up the hill... brain implosion. Saw RL for the first time since 3! He had been behind me. This mistake had allowed him to catch and overtake.. 11-finish was just trying to catch him up with no luck (in the end he had 5 mins on me) Too tired and too exhausted.

As it turned out he didn't win either DM came through and blitzed us all!

One final note... it was a Long event WHERE WAS THE WATER STOP!!!

Final final note MB beat me again today - thats 2 days in a row...
