Note

Decided against running a 3 k race trial yesterday due to complete lack of speed training in the preceding weeks. I am simply not ready, and my focus right now is to build endurance, so will continue with my tempo runs.

Consistent 2:07 for almost all laps, felt decent, the work out is getting easier but this bulky 1 kg garmin watch is def slowing me down, need to get a K-size one

Hay Creek Red, day 2:
I was mostly awake for the start but as soon as I set off on my course I knew it was going to be not only tough physically but mentally today. Something was definitely missing. Intuition left me today and with all my conscious effort to concentrate I could not to save my life. This made for some sloppy orienteering, which was thoroughly not fun. I would say my state of mind matched this terrain; uneven, uncomfortable, and thorny, with a mountain of thick fog in between my eyes. I probably looked green in the face too as I finished. Just totally not feeling it today. Few reasons for this, the main one probably being insufficient and improper recovery. Sure, my physical state is just coming up so it's no surprise these races would be difficult. However, I really have to make a serious effort on the nutritional front. Being a loose vegetarian I definitely need to watch my protein, iron, and b12 intake. Protein powder? Need to do some research on how to be a proper athlete to not royally screw up my training as has happened in the past.
