Blue Hills Traverse.
This was a decent race for me. It flew by fast, especially the East side portion. I had good energy throughout and pushed myself well.
Mistakes + hesitations:
#2: going right on trail coming in to control was a bad idea, got stuck in the thorns.
#3: slow to decide on route choice
#4: slow coming in control circle. I believe these rocks are mismapped a bit.
#5: sloppy exit, pushed right to trail instead of following the stone wall up the hill; took the windy trail to attack the control from the top, which was very fun to run on but it was a bit distracting and I left some time here coming in to the control.
#6: lost my hair tie close to the control.
#8: braid kept mostly in tact until my approach to 8, at which point I stopped completely, unhooked the elastic from my control description holder and tied my hair proper. :)
#10: surprisingly, it took me forever to come out to trail from 9, not really sure why.
#14: bad route choice going left and hesitating in the control circle
#19: confused in the control circle, was on top of it and didn't see the control, went further with Tim and JJ but came back and saw the flag finally.
#21: tiny bit low.
Well, that seems like a lot of errors.. Maybe I shouldn't do this whole post-race analysis thing. No, this is good.
Things I did right:
- Used fellow competitors around me
- Knew when to take alternative routes to my fellow competitors (#4, #15)
- Kept up pace on trails
- Pushed comfort level on downhillls
- Ate a GU (#7)
- Simplified routes
- Selected decent routes on most long legs
- Executed short legs with confidence and with slower speed when required (#21, #22)
- Strong finish
GPS watch clearly not cooperating as of late.
