Running race 18:02:00 [3] 80.0 km (13:32 / km) +3100m 11:20 / km

Used the gray/green Hoka Challenger ATR. Race didnt start too well. Had cramps in right hamstring after only about two hours from start. Probably went out too fast. But cramps may have been the result of a lack of intensity in training. Too focused on weigted stair repeats on the last weeks before the race. Already noticed that I had tight hamstrings from the start. I was well rested before race but I might have caused an imbalance between my quads and hamstring as a result of the weighted stair workouts. Did some stretching during race to try and loosen them up. Hiking pace was slooow....downhill pace not satisfactory.
Managed the cramps such that I was in a good position to finish with 30min cushion (4:30 to finsih the last 21k). Instead, I allowed myself to be distracted, lost focus, and realized too late that I was behind cutoff. Last 10k push didnt quite make it and missed finish by two minutes. :(
Bright spots: I was able manage nutrition essentially 100 calories am hour with Vespa every 3-4 hours. Energy and stomach were good as can be. Recovery was fast with less DOMS than ever before. Must be the due to the weight training.
