Orienteering 1:30:00 [3] 5.0 mi (18:00 / mi)

In the peak district. Absolutely beautiful run, with lots of variation. Loved the more detailed orienteering between the boulders and also the bits in the trees. Ankle was hurting me, and did kinda go over on it again at the end. Have to rest it now. I hate resting.

Running (Slow, terrain) 45:00 [3]

In the peak district. Nick and I attempted to run Nicks old training run. Basically, it was far too hard for me. I found the terrain too difficult, especially with my dodgy ankle. Result lots of walking through the heather when too thick for me and total run cut in half (we might have only finished 1/3rd...) Was very beautiful though. Made me a bit nervous about the orienteering the following day.

Running (Fast but short) 20:40 [3] 2.89 mi (7:09 / mi)

Ran fast, and because it was dark I cut my route really short so thought I should try extra hard. Need to plan a longer route that is safe in the dark. I'm not good at just running randomly, I need a route otherwise I lose the will to try hard.

Dancing (Salsa) 1:00:00 [1]

Note

I was just wondering why todays run was basically the same pace as my threshold run in Silverstone on Saturday - then remembered its flat around here, but hilly and muddy in Silverstone woods.

Running 39:59 [3] 5.24 mi (7:38 / mi)

Strapped up ankle again. My icing etc. the other day stopped it from swelling like a balloon; noticed some bruising this morning. I decided that being as I had no pain yesterday and I was running around a ward all day, then I could go for a run. It was meant to be a slow easy run, but once I started running I decided to test my marathon pace - faster than my long run pace, but slower than my threshold (according to Daniels...)

Interval training 25:30 [3] 3.0 mi (8:30 / mi)

Damn!!! Went over on my ankle on the first interval. Really disappointed as I think I was on for approx. 6min/mile when I heard a loud popping sound and felt a very sharp pain. I hobbled for a bit, and eventually managed to jog slowly back home. I've been sensible this time and have immediately put ice on it. I'm waiting to see how bad the damage is. So my interval session ended up being 10min warm up jog, 5.30 interval, 10min warm down jog.

Running (Threshold) 39:01 [4] 5.24 mi (7:27 / mi)

New shoes! :) Ran my best today. Feel like I've lost a bit of fitness. I'm sure it's natural to have ups and downs though, esp. considering I didn't really have a chance to train last week through all the cycling.

Ok looking at the mins/mile I obviously didn't do as bad as I thought I did. I thought I was running slow...

Running 1:20:00 [3] 9.0 mi (8:53 / mi)

Lovely run through Hamptead heath, Queens wood and Alexandra palace. Hampstead heath I always find a bit tough, with it's undulating paths, but it's very beautiful at this time of year. Legs weren't great at the beginning of the run, but I pushed through.

Running (Park Run Brockwell) 40:00 [3] 5.0 km (8:00 / km)

10 min warm up, 10 min warm down. 5K park run in Brockwell Park. Was fun, though I know I could have had a stronger run if my legs weren't annihilated from cycling this week. Time 22.19 (my watch) .

Friday Nov 11, 2011 #

Note

Cycling commute Monday - Friday (17miles x 5) Not very conducive to running training. Not quite sure how I managed to cycle and train last year.

Interval training 40:00 [4] 4.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Heathside track session. Legs felt awful from cycling home, then rushing straight to the track. Might have to rethink the cycle on Tuesdays. Session involved 6 x 800m My head and legs werent in it tonight. I did 4 x 800m then 4 x 400m

Running 1:35:00 [3] 11.0 mi (8:38 / mi)

Run with Heathside from Highgate station today. Good run through Hampstead Heath. Pace ok for me today. I prob could have run faster, but was nice talking to people.

We ran for about 1h10 and I ran an extra 15mins on either side to get there and back. Friendly group, and will be useful motivation when I need to start increasing the distances.

Plan was to do Brockwell Park Run this morning. Drinks last night saw to it that was not going to happen.

Note

Antibiotics playing havoc on my energy levels. Going to attempt to run later today, but not feeling positive about it.
12 PM

Running (Slow) 35:00 [2]

Very slow run. Feeling quite sick before went out for run, so decided that pushing it would not be a good idea. Thought that going for a very slow run would just keep my legs moving without causing my body any stress.
8 PM

Yoga (Class) 50:00 [1]

1.5hr class. Time represents time in posture.

Interval training 40:00 [3]

Session 16 x 400metres. I did 11, average time 97secs each lap. Did 88secs on last one as a push. Not feeling my best, but also didn't try as hard as I could as decided to try and pace it a bit more instead.
