Note

After being advised about this site by Mr rogaine I thought I would check it out . On reading the amount of training that people were doing and the obvious fitness I thought that this was not really something for me. However I perservered and read some blogs and after noting PeterK's mention of my confusion on Sunday at the Spice Brook Boomer thought that I should put it is context. Let us say that Sunday was not one of my best perfomances although in looking at the splits I can see that I was not that bad on all the legs - just most of them and disastrously so on a couple.
As all good orienteers know one should maintain contact with the map and pay attention to what you are doing. Losing that contact especially in a heavy downpour of rain and then trying to mentally reconnect can at times leave you feeling exceptionally stupid.
I haven't got the map in front of me at present otherwise I could give a blow by blow of puttering around the first few and then stuffing it major time at going across to 5 and then seeming to have geographic challenges at a number of points thereafter.
It was so much nicer going over to Lover's Lane on Saturday and taking my time to check on a couple of control sites on th MDC. I should say that while Juffy has mentioned a bit about the diggings there are not all that many and most of it is beautiful and open. The views are great looking down the valleys although I suspect some may consider the uphill after going down said valleys might be a detraction. The rocky stuff when you are in it can be a tad confusing though if you do not have your wits about you or a rushing along. It's great being a controller that can take their time and just casually line things up and not in be in a rush to find controls. You can see the everlastings and the orchids and admire the views.
Mind you saying that there were some lovely donkey orchids, china blue orchids and cowslips out on Sunday and it is always nice to see watercourses with water in them.
I might try and comment on my training regime when I actually get to do some. I am thinking of going on a run this afternoon so possibly I might have a place on a site like this yet.
