Long run with Will Gardener, I was super slow at the start, will had to keep waiting for me. By the me I built into it and the last 15 mins or so I was rolling.

I find I can’t keep a good pace up without killing myself if there are lots of hills to climb. Maybe I need to find a flat long run so I can “roll” the whole way.

I really really struggle with tempos. I do them all off my HR zones so progression tempos at HR 150-155 then 160-165 then 170-175. I’ve always really struggled with tempos in the last stage of my progression (170-175 bpm HR). Today I felt like I always feel when I do a tempo - awful.

When I’m working at 170-175 my whole body is screaming at me to stop, my legs are fine but my cardio side of things are in so much pain. I would find a running a 4:15Mile so much easier than tempoing for any longer then 10’ at 170bpm HR. I don’t know if it is mental but I don’t think I’m that mentally weak and I can push my self to the point to throwing up like I did in my half marathon a few weeks ago.

I don’t know why I find it so hard - my pace isn’t even that fast (only at 3:30min/km) and my Hr levels go up to 185-188 on the track so I’m not pushing to hard in my Hr zones.

I’ve always found tempos hard and it’s just frustrating how painful and hard they actually are. I don’t know why my breathing and lungs and cardio side of things suffer so much during these tempos?

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions? I don’t know what or if I am doing anything wrong?

My speed went super slow on the climb up porter, but everywhere else was ticking along well
