Note
(sick) (rest day)

Have been developing a sore throat over the course of the day. Expecting to have a cold for the next week or so, but we'll see.

Might have to scale down plans for the weekend.

BUCS Relay, 6th team
Went out around some of the Edinburgh and Sheffield 2nd/3rd teams, a few minutes down on the leaders. Was a bit scrappy throuh 6-7-8 but managed to drop them by the far end of the course but then dropped 30s just before the run through and another 30s going down the hill so almost got caught again. Could possibly have dipped under 29 minutes but nowhere near Sacha's time.

BUCS Individual, 6th
Started well, picked a decent route for the long leg (straight-ish) then messed up right at the end by about 90 seconds. Screwed up 8 like almost everyone, then just couldn't find the pit at 11 (+90s again). Eventually Matt came flying down the hill and spiked it, about 15 metres from where I was. Quite lucky he'd caught me up as I stacked it going into the spectator and covered my map in mud, which took until 18 to clean off enough to be able to actually use again.

Quite disappointed at the time about the mistakes, but in hindsight probably not that surprising given lack of recent orienteering. Cross country fitness seems to have translated fairly well to terrain fitness.

NB using watch time as start clock was dodgy.

Bagley Woods
10 x 2' (1') in terrain.
6 x 30" (30") along a path.

Fighting a stitch the whole way, which meant I didn't enjoy a second of it. Was trying quite hard and feeling quite slow, but hopefully I'll feel better for it at the weekend.

Running warm up/down 24:40 [2] 5.4 km (4:34 / km) +16m 4:30 / km
shoes: Asics Patriot 7

The stitch finally hit halfway home, making this pretty grim despite the glorious weather.
