Running short brown as EOD and wasn't sure if I'd make it from Oxford in time for the shorter Black start window. Was at first quite glad for the reduced distance, but then realised it would be pretty embarrassing if I didn't win so I ran fairly hard.

Pretty easy as all very open and runnable, well mapped, and readable at 1:7500. Lost a little at 8 getting distracted by someone else who I thought was at the control, and then completely blew it at the end trying to run too quickly without a good plan. Very enjoyable though.

Varsity Orienteering (Splits), Sutton Park, 1st
Good course, and nicer forest than I was expecting. A few small misses, particularly 19 where I realised I hadn't yet planned the long leg that followed it and got distracted. Then was v. hesitant executing my route to 11, though it was at least probably the right choice. Got a bit lucky amongst the gorse with seeing other people at controls, but generally kept it together quite well and was planning ahead.

A few minutes ahead of Aidan to get my name on the varsity tankard. A minute behind Duncan though who must have had a stormer.
