cycling warm up/down 50:00 [3] 13.0 km (3:51 / km) +105m 3:42 / km

last 3km just kept going wrong - this was meant to be a 10km ride!!! Missed the turning then couldn't figure out how to get from one side of Eastern Highway to the other because so many tracks were closed?

It's such a classic joke that I got lost on the way to orienteering training....
6 PM

orienteering 45:00 [4]

2 activites led by Peter and Ralph

1) Simplification exercise: Run 6 laps of the pitch whilst studying the map and when you get back to the start of each lap try and draw details onto blank map with course only drawn on.

I arrived late and was rubbish, this may be why I get lost during my bike rides. I drew on a main path and fence that were important. Forgot to fill half the circles (and what would I be looking for during orienteering if I didn't know what was in the circle??)
Missed off some really key detail that I usually pay so much attention to when I have the map in front of my face - contours and veg.
Think my problem is mostly memory based, a Lack of concentration does seem to be a problem during my orienteering and the classic arrive at the circle and panic is probably due to not paying attention to what is actually in the circle.
So training was pretty helpful because it showed me that actually I don't remember as much of the map as I need to and rely on constantly studying the map in order to make my way...and this slows my running down considerably.

On a positive running felt good today, even thought it probably wasn't even 1km total haha

2) maze-o
LOVE a maze-o, it was hectic even though I started off third. Usually on the ball and quick to move. Just had two moments when I was like wait what? Think I did okay though and in some points I think I may have put a sprint on (shocking)
7 PM

cycling warm up/down 40:00 [4] 12.83 km (3:07 / km) +123m 2:59 / km

cycle back, went the wrong way but kind of went with it knowing that I sort of knew where I was in relation to where I needed to be....
