Paddling 2:15:00 [3]

bayfield inlet to CP1 with Etoile. After all the teams were thru we paddled towards CP2 into the swampy area then back via some nice islands to bayfield. Most enjoyable navigating while paddling I've ever done. Great fun. Our kayaks got a bunch of new scratches now unfortunately. :-(

Note

Enjoyed watching much of the WOC long today. A different dynamic than recent years (decades?) with more countries represented. The non qual system is good for that. Was today the first time a Canadian man has raced a classic or long final at WOC since I did in 1997? Probably not. Perhaps Nick made it (or was that for Romania).

ARX training with Tarno. Great to see a dozen athletes out in the middle of summer. Wasn't feeling well today and almost skipped this but glad I didn't because it was good training. Thanks Anvil. Tried to read everything and develop some flow between CPs. Great map. Thanks Pi. Great BBQ hosted by the Gadjanski clan afterward

The "ground was soft and was running into a wind" so it was a pretty tough workout.

Over to Snooty Fox with Anvil and NevMonster after the BBQ.

Note
(rest day)

Today was day one of our first ever ARK summer day camp. The camp is organized by our two employees and six paid ARX athletes as well. So cool to see several of our original ARKers now coaching our younger ARKers. The program is running without any volunteer time. Seeing how smoothly things went and how happy the kids and coaches were at the end of the day means I might be able to fast track my volunteering retirement. :-)
