Orienteering 20:00 [3] ***
spiked:13/15c

jogging a portion of the fundraiser at the top of the gondola. Yes I made it up the gondola.

Note

Congrats Emma! :-)

Canadian Elite sprint champion at 16 years old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Made possible by her dedication, awesomeness, and being part of an excellent group of athletes and coaches in ARK and ARX.

Medals are great (and ARK and ARXers won another 8 today too) but these photos tell the real reason why ARK is a success!

Easy warm up on training map

Orienteering 40:00 [3] ***
spiked:14/17c

Nationals middle. Lots of ice and vitamin I got me to the start line. Fun and challenging nav got me to the finish. Two 40s errors and then tired legs (still recovering from 8hr AR) cost me time on the final loop. But I'll take the scalps.

Good results by DGL juniors.

Orienteering 10:00 [3] ***
spiked:7/9c

Nationals training after lots of knee icing and vitamin I. Was
Able to jog 10 minutes. The knee pain appears to be bursitis. Painfull but not that bad if I walk at times and wear compression wraps on the knees.

Jogged with Etoile but messed up two CPs big
Time and she beat me on those.

Spent most of the day at beach and whistler Brewhouse. Last time I raced nationals it was in a cow paddy filled field with long grass and skeeters. I like the upgrade whistler.

Rockstar photo alert.

Believe it or not but this photo was only 10 minutes into our running and I was already in knee pain. Didn't realize until Monday that I had a big bruise on my bad knee from the endo on the bike.

nevertheless, somebody clearly photoshopped out the tow rope in this pic.

(rest day)

So the fun thing about Attack Point is we can go back and look at our logs to see how we prepared and recovered from races many years ago. Why would I do that? Well because I was really hurtin' today so wanted to see how long I recovered in the good old days. Back in '02 I did a sprint AR and followed it up with a 17 hour training week. 17 hours would be a good two week total today. :-) The last AR I did prior to this weekend was the 8 hour SAC Champs race in '05. I ran the real around the Bay the next morning in a speedy time. Shite. No taper and no need to recover back then.

Umm, well this will not be a 17hour training week and I don't think I could even run the real ATB. So today's moral of the story is that getting old sucks. :-(

But the good news is I did manage to coast along the waterfront trail on my cross bike this evening while Sudden ran. Will attempt Tuesday Nite Turbo tomorrow even if for the core training.
