Cycling race 2:40:00 [2] 40.0 km (4:00 / km)
Jim's Lexington Wanderings, on (road) bike. Road bike was an excellent choice. There were only 1 or two places where the surface was unpaved, and some of them were smooth. Only a couple of rooty or broken pavement stretches that made me dismount.
I had planned the route based on about 10km per hour, figuring in getting off course. But this time I highlighted the intended course, so it was much easier to determine whether I was executing properly. I was off my intended course only a couple of times, and only briefly.
The estimated speed of progress was too small, so I had extra time at the end, but maybe not a full 3 hours of energy. I had 1 Gu at about 45 minutes in. I added a couple of controls that I had not planned to get. But because I had stupidly only highlighted and brought with me the left map half, I couldn't see a very accurate picture of what was just over the fold. Maybe I could have reached a couple more valuable controls, but I'm pretty happy with the course I rode.
