Intervarsity Championship, Tyrella - 1st.

Great team result today, UCDO dominated the weekend.
I had been focusing towards this race for a few weeks. It worked well around my training plan, because it meant I could get into decent shape for this, and then after the intervarsities, I would be in decent enough shape to try and hit proper base training.

My race was good. Happy to be back racing on a nice map really. And Tyrella is a very nice map, one of the best we have.
I started quickly enough, was maybe a little too concious of what others could do, but settled down a bit more, and found a nice balance between trying to push through the terrain, and reading the map well.
Twister my right ankle slightly after making a small mistake on 6, but I tried to just run it off, and it was gone pretty quickly.
Had minor misses on 14, and 18, 10-15s each. Had a bad route choice to 19 which brought me through some shittier stuff, and saw Laurence overtake me, after I'd caught him.

Generally clean though. Think our map may have been 1:7500, the course didn't feel easy, but that scale probably did make it easier, I didn't have any trouble reading detail at speed, and I think that was something I did have issue with here before.

Intervarsity Champion for the 2nd time though. Sweet. Hopefully more to come.

Running warm up/down 10:00 [1] 1.5 km (6:40 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Oroc 280 (July '14)

Warm down with a team of champions, Róisín, Laurence, and Niall.
9 PM

Note

Had the pleasure of anchoring UCDO's boat race team, but realistically our first 4 legs were too strong for any of the other colleges, and I could just cruise home with an enjoyable pint.
