Hellfire IMRA Charity - 1st
Warming up spotted Killian Mooney, and knew I'd be in a battle for 2nd at best.
Starting off I didn't see Killian, and some other fellow led at a reasonable pace, I tucked behind feeling comfortable enough, coming up to the hill rep turn he was breathing heavily so I pushed on a bit. Summitted pretty comfortably 50m ahead after what felt like a strong climb.
Moving quickly along the fire road & onto scrappier trails, and nearing the far end of hellfire sure enough Killian was coming towards me just out for a jog.
Turned up one or two more climbs working hard and couldn't see anyone behind for a distance, and then realised I'd probably started a bit hard, or just noticed the lack of intensity recently cos my lungs were on fire. Struggled through the remaining climbs & flats back to hellfire with a good few nervous glances back as Torben started to close in on me.
Got to the top with 50m lead again so I could open up and cruise the descent in the end.
Family took the Men's & women's wins, nice.
Not as out of shape as expected but yeah
