Cycling 3:45:00 [4] 58.2 mi (15.5 mph) +5177ft
ahr:117 max:147 weight:146.4lbs shoes: SW road 2013

Tacoma Narrows-Fox Island-Gig Harbor: Hitching a ride. Greg showed me around on one of his favorite rides. I hitched a ride with Tracy, on her way to visit a friend in Lacey. I also hitched a ride with Greg, as I definitely felt the almost 10,000' of climbing I have done the last two days and 20,000' for the week. Whew, this was a pretty hard ride, a lot harder than a 71 on the Stravameter. My first time riding on Fox Island, as well as across the bridge.

MTB 3:50:00 [4] 41.0 mi (10.7 mph) +4518ft
ahr:130 max:156 weight:147lbs shoes: SW MTB 2014 Bling

Grand Ridge RT-Duthie-Soaring Eagle: Skipping spring cleaning. Summer weather=summer cleaning: leaf blower to remove primary dust/damp towel for the tenacious dust. No dirt, let alone mud! Spring cleaning is for the house-still time for that. Hardest ride so far this year.

Lake Sammamish with Tracy. It's been a while since Tracy has ridden, so we did an easy ride to get her back on her bike and try her new saddle. A stop at KK was an added incentive...for me, not her!

ahr:128 max:157 weight:146.8lbs shoes: SW MTB 2014 Bling

Grand Ridge RT-Duthie-Soaring Eagle: Gotta love it when ride time=clock time. I left at noon, rode 3h 44m, and arrived home at 3:44 PM. In other words, another ride without stopping. What a beautiful day it was!

Walking 1:25:00 [1] 5.0 mi (3.5 mph) +100ft
weight:146.4lbs (rest day) shoes: Hoka Bondi 6

Alki Beach with Tracy. We frequently rode over to Alki when we lived in Downtown Seattle, but it's been a while since we've been there. Lunch at Duke's Chowder was tasty, but when did lunch become so pricey?

Cycling 2:40:00 [3] 44.0 mi (16.5 mph) +2100ft
ahr:119 max:150 weight:146.6lbs shoes: SW road 2013

Mercer Island-Seward Park-Renton-Cedar Grove: Stronger than normal creepy feeling. It's creepy, but in the back of my mind, I am always aware of the risks I take as a cyclist and pedestrian. I did my planned route today, despite the fact that a cyclist was killed by a hit and run driver near Seward Park yesterday evening. I did what I always do to mitigate the risk: 1) Be aware and pay attention to EVERYTHING 2) Wear bright clothes, use a 400 Lumen tail light, and assume I am invisible 3) Use a rear view mirror to "profile" and monitor drivers overtaking me. If I see a drunk weaving behind me, I can head for the ditch and hope that he doesn't follow me there.

MTB 3:23:00 [4] 34.9 mi (10.3 mph) +3901ft
ahr:122 max:150 weight:145.8lbs shoes: SW MTB 2014 Bling

Grand Ridge RT-Duthie-Soaring Eagle: It's called winter, and it happens every year. Officially it's spring, and it feels like it, with temperatures near 80 expected later in the week, but there's still tons of snow in the mountains. It amazes me every year when I read comments on the Facebook local MTB area groups from people apparently amazed that they can't ride the high trails in Feb., March, and April. My local trails were in superb condition, with just a few tiny patches of snow above 700' elevation. It was very busy, but not a problem, as the majority of dogs were under control, and nobody rode towards me around a blind corner on the edge of control.
