| Event: WCOC Ansonia Nature Center meet |
 | Orienteering 1:35:00 [3] 7.6 km (12:30 / km) | |
| |
| Ansonia red, a test to see if I can keep orienteering through this injury. I failed. My butt got more and more painful as the "race" went on: by 30 minutes I was hobbling, by 60 minutes just walking. At least one thing is clear: I need to take a few weeks off from any running: no team trials, probably nothing seriousunitl Wyoming except for the rogaine in June. I'll prepare for that with long hilly hikes. |

 | cycling 50:13 [3] 14.4 mi (3:29 / mi) | |

| Leeds loop, a little faster. Still a bit painful pushing with my left leg from a sitting position. 28:12, 22:01. |
Friday May 9 |
 | swim 14:00 [3] 0.35 mi (40:01 / mi) | |

| Swim at UMass indoor pool, 24 laps. OK for first swim in a year, but my form disintegrated after the first couple of laps. And the water was so ... wet. |

 | cycling 51:50 [3] 14.4 mi (3:35 / mi) | |

| Leeds loop, first ride this year. Usually I bring out the bike around Memorial Day, but I'll let my injury jumpstart the season. I felt a lot of soreness in my upper left leg relating to older injuries, but it didn't hurt in my butt, which is good news. 29:48 (into wind), 22:02. |
Wednesday May 7 |
 | Trail Run 48:02 [3] 5.3 mi (9:03 / mi) | |
| rhr:46 weight:144lbs |
| From the Smith gym after lifting, the usual run including the race course. Felt pretty lousy during the run, although icing my butt after felt great! (The morning after, however, I'm sorer than ever.) 11:05, 26:14, 10:42. |

Tuesday May 6 |
 | Trail Run 45:00 [1] 3.5 mi (12:50 / mi) | |
| |
| Went to Mt Tom to scope out some control sites in the Whiting Peak area for my fall A-meet courses, but the gate closes at 6:00 so I had to "run" up the mountain and then back down. I won't log the hour or so of walking around. Little black flies were very annoying whenever I stood still; they kept finding their way into my ear canals. |

| I'm at a loss what to do about my hamstring/butt injury, since serious running is out. Dust off the bike? Long hikes in the woods? The dreaded indoor pool? I fantasize plunging a knife into my butt, neatly excising the offending tissue, leading to instant relief. |
