| Thought given the issues I had on the second paddle leg at Espresso last year where my seat wasn't set up properly and I blew up big time, it might make sense to try the inflatable boat out before the race this time, particularly given my promotion to back seat...
I'm assuming Wade and Blacky will pick t up pretty quick. Hope so seeing as they'll be together in a boat and neither of them have even laid eyes on one of these before. Now I've actually seen how to put the boat together and inflate it without race pressure and fatigue it all seems rather simple. After some initial circle work I started to get the hang of steering the thing. First paddle in a long time with no rudder... Went from banks reserve round Heirisson Island and back. Looking forward to the race even more now | ||

| Time and distance a guess
First part of an H1 Spiked the first 5 controls, but was struggling physically. Dunno how Craig thought the terrain was nice. Thick, prickly, steep. Missed a gully heading for 6 and overshot before swinging up the hill t the control, then totally arsed up 7 with a poor route choice followed up by some worse execution. 7 minutes on a very short leg. Got 8, then left 8 for the long leg across to the other hillside at 90 out, corrected after a few hundred metres, but when I hit the creek down near the main road and couldn't cross it without detouring to the marked route to the start I'd had enough and gave up. There were 20 controls total and I was probably less than a third of the way round a course that was designed to take 70 minutes... | ||

| Paddle from banks reserve to tranby house and return. Glad to keep it shorter than the last couple of weeks. Main purposes of paddle to try out newly created wetsuit pants (Tooms old tri wetsuit cut in half) and to see if I can paddle blister free in my new bike gloves. Both good, but dunno how much difference those gloves will make keeping my hands warm... | ||
