Royds Hall evening event. Pretty clean run, only miss was on 6 where quite frankly the map was pants, the platform was 20metres down a bank below the path whereas the map showed it to be on the same level adjacent to the path, ho hum. Suffering from a bit of post work fatigue and pretty much shuffled round or so it felt. Gorgeous bit of woodlandd though and enjoyed being out in the sunshine.

Training with CVFR. Started off pretty quick on the climb up to Peckett Well. Across the moor to High Brown Knoll, turned west and headed down into the wooded clough that joins onto Hardcastle Crags. Through the woods and eventually back to Mytholmroyd. Pace was fairly high sometimes but i minced towards the end when it was getting late in the evening.

Another day, another fell race. Mytholmroyd fell race today. Saw Harold Wyber and James Williams at the start. 1st 10mins were steep uphill and i settled into a decent rhythm in about 7th. Got past a few people when we reached the moor and started the descent into Luddenden Valley. Half way down, me and the fella behind performed a Mikka Hakkinen style overtake on the Tod Harrier in front with one of us going down either side of him through the heather. Running along the flatish track in the valley he gestured for me to come past him, like cyclists do in the peleton, but i was suffering in the extreme heat and told him so. On the climb out of the valley i could see 2nd place looking over his shoulder and so dug in. Eventually caught 2nd place just before Cock Hill quarries but was still towing the other guy along. I had witnessed his rapid descent before so knew i had to pull something out the bag. Last 1.5miles were an uncontrolled sprint downhill, hurdling stiles, swerving through gates and praying i wasnt going to trip over else i was fecked. Reached the last kissing gate just before him, went through it nice and slowly, and just pipped him into the finish. Marvellous.

Up through the old town/Booth onto the moor, pottered across to Crow Hill, Milk Churn Joan, Sheepstones trig and back along the Calderdale way following some tapes marking tommorrows race. Feeling a bit jetlagged from lack of sleep but otherwise happy to be out in the sunshine.
