Hill/Road Run 30:00 [3] 5 km (6:00 / km) +250m 4:48 / km
shoes: Puma Trailfox
Insomnia busting run to the top of Arthur Seat and back starting at 4am. It was real misty at the top. Only me and drunk people about at this hour. Fun. Ive been awake for 20 hours and have gone beyond tiredness and am in a weired kinda semi trance mode now. I'm not even tired, its strange.

While waiting during yet another break in the Tour Coverage I thought Id give my views on the GC Battle:

Valverde has peaked too early, he has been on top form for a few weeks and always fades in the later mountains, plus le maillot jaune will mean its him V everyone else, which will be too tough to survive to the end.

Cunego is a hill racer who wont give up on his dream of being a stage racer, too weak in the ITT and when the gradient gets real tough later on.

Menchov. Used to always have a mediocre tour followed by and amazing Vuelta. He needs a warm up GT before he can hit form. This year he rode the Giro and so could well be in form to finally deliver in France.

Evans is a strong bet, especially with a new bike for the TTs which can shave 1s per km of riding. Not very attacking but not easy to break, plus the strongest of the GC guys in the ITT. Last year he went up against Contador and Leipheimer with no help, this year he has Popo, who helped Armstrong in Later years.

My money is on Sastre to perform this year. He doesnt have the acceleration to match Contador but with the other main contenders Menchov and Evans both being grinders rather than attackers he will do well. Its his last year with a chance as he is getting old and the younger guys Gesink and A Schleck will be too strong next year plus the Astana guys will be back. He has the strongest team with Gustov, Voigt and the Schlecks working for him.

Saturday Jul 5

Note
(rest day)

Friday Jul 4

Note

Thursday Jul 3

Tennis 40:00 [1]
shoes: Asics GT-2130
Enjoyed the game yesterday so had another today, but at the Meadows. Mistake. The place was packed and it cost more than double the amount as at Peffermill. May go out for a run if I can be bothered, dont feel I need to coz ive kept active all week.
Road Running 38:00 [3] 6.5 km (5:51 / km) +100m 5:26 / km
shoes: Asics GT-2130
Managed to drag myself out in the end. Was planning on doing a lap round the radical road and HB but the top of the crags is closed so I turned back and headed home.

Tennis 45:00 [2]
Woke up stupidly early (normal time for most non teenagers) and had nowt to do for hours so took my wee bro down to Peffermill for a wee knock about. Its ages since I used to play tennis seriously, before I decided scrabbling round a forest, muddy, cold and lost was more fun, and it definatly showed in my game.......
Cross Country 31:00 [3] 6 km (5:10 / km) +100m 4:46 / km
shoes: Puma Trailfox
......Followed by lap of Blackford Hill and Hermitage starting from the Observatory Car Park.

Tuesday Jul 1

WarmUp/Down 15:00 [1] 2 km (7:30 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-2130
The Usual, not much warm down coz I was a bit out of it after the session.
Road Running 30:00 [5] 5 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Asics GT-2130
The usual 5x1000m

This was a tough session averaging 3.25 or so. No one of my level there tonight so I was running on my own until the last 150m when Scott who was starting a bit after me would cruise past making it look annoyingly easy. Ran hard and had to really push coz its the first tough intervals for a while.
