Sunday Sep 7

Ride 2:35:55 [3]72 km (2:10 / km)
shoes: Lemond Road Bike
Beerwah to Sandgate

Got away early, keen to get home. Cruising along for the first 25 at around 28/29, then got into a small group of 4 and we rode it pretty hard through to lunch (33/34). Cruised the last 10-12 at about 29 to the finish.

Saturday Sep 6

Ride 3:03:00 [3]77 km (2:23 / km)
shoes: Lemond Road Bike
Kenilworth to Beerwah

Tough day, hills, wind and 3.5 flats.

With a big climb up the back into Maleny (4km at 10%) and not much form, took it easy early and even had a stop at morning tea. Got a few k's up the road and got the first flat, couldn't find anything in tyre or tube. Got the replacement in and on my way.

Did the climb in 18'47 and still had one gear left in reserve (riding Ultegra 9 speed 12/25 rear cluster) and managed to keep the speedo above 10.5km/hr the whole way. Rolled into lunch and here is the where the trouble started.

Went to the mechanic to use the good pump to get front tyre to pressure. Was eating lunch when, front tyre went bang. Tube blew out behind the valve. Made the replacement and the tube would hold air - faulty valve. Ripped that one out and bought two new tubes from mechanic. One in the tyre other in saddle bag and away.

Ride after lunch was tough along the ride line heading north towards Woodford. Lumpy all the way and into very strong head wind. Got into the downhill bit and was really hammering the along. Made the left turn to head back to Peachester and noticed a gradual softening in the front tyre. Did the change, found some glass in tyre and 2 nicks in the tube but could not get the tube to leak air. Put the last spare in and rode through to finish. The descent from Peachester to Beerwah was awesome, new asphalt, perfectly banked corners and just hummin down the mountain.

Left late because had to exchange new bed roll in town. Pretty much a 20-25km/hr head and cross wind the whole way. Other than that was a good day to be out.
