Running race (Shining Tor Fell Race) 58:35 [3] 5.9 mi (9:55 / mi) +488m 4:55 / km
slept:9.0 weight:153lbs shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 330 'O'
Ran it easy. Very easy. Didn't push at all, just ran how my body wanted to run, so was quick down 2 descents, and very slow down another. Probably could have easily had 5 minutes off that time, just don't feel like running too quick at the moment, which is irritating. Otherwise, felt quite fine. Twas very humid, especially through the foresty bits.
Going through the last gate (just after a loverly foresty plummet :D), managed to get my right heel caught under it, pulling my shoe and killing the slight blister under it, which resulted in swearing (thankfully young children were out of earshot) and a bit of hobbling, but the uphill road finish spured me on. Took 3 people, and ended in a sprint finish with some people I should have been 4 mins ahead of. 3 of us finished with the same time.
Why did they have an 'Intermediate' catergory (18-21) and not give out prizes for it? Maybe it was only because I was the only one racing... or I was a bit too slow.
85/160odd. Half way at a pootle. Won in 41ish, 2mins under the course record.
Running warm up/down 5:00 [1]
run to start, bit of stretching
Climbing 5:00 [1]
stopped at a twilight Windgather on the way home, had a bit of a solo up a mod/dif in my trainers and a bit of a walk around the top. laverly!
Note
Sent out the ShUOC sponsorship letters and photo/honours sheet - that looks well sexy as I got it done professional lyke.
Just put Savlon on my blisters. ooo it stung a bit.
Quite pleased that they didn't get much worse despite the skin being weak. They are worse, but not as bad as they could have been. Hardy hurt at all during the race.

Tuesday Jul 22

Note
Got some slight blisters on both my heels due to hard new shoes/running a fair amount yesterday, so doing little.

Monday Jul 21

Running long (long fell run) 2:36:00 [3] 22 km (7:05 / km) +710m 6:06 / km
slept:7.0 weight:152lbs shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 330 'O'
A combination of New Shoes, GBR WOC relay Gold, not being at Oringen, and that I'm only home until the end of the week and Kinder was looking glorious got me out on a cracking day. From home along the SVT to Birch Vale, then up to Lantern Pike. Down through Hey Wood to the Glossop road. Walked along that (dodging traffic), then up from Carr Meadow up the the Shooting Cabin over Middle Moor. From there to the botto of William Cloug, and then up to Sandy Heys. From there along the edge (cutting a few bits across peat) to the Downfall, and then along to Red Brook, before taking the lower path down past 3 knolls to beeath Kinderlow end. Then down through the fields to Tunstead Farm. took a diversio from the road via Hill Houses farm to Bowden Bridge. Then into Hayfield by the campsite and river, then back home along the trail. Walked a bit of that.
All in all, cracking run! Especially when overtaking DofE kids up Sandy Heys :p

Running race (Great Hucklow Fell Race) 58:03 [3] 6.1 mi (9:31 / mi) +333m 5:03 / km
slept:6.5 weight:155lbs shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 330 'O'
Saw the family off on Holiday to the Alps, then went and did the Great Hucklow Fell Race. Nice Course, but I do see what Matt said about there not being enough climb... was fairly cross-country in places, but I fancied a flatter run today (bear in mind it still wasn't flat!) Fairly slow race - winner was 48mins, I know I could have run not far off that time, but I wanted a bit of a pootle, and am not as fit as I was 2 months ago :( (todays time was 6/7 mins slower than my Burbage skyline, for only 500m more and less climb!)
First time in my Inovs, loved them! First time I've been able to decend/corner with confidence, and keep on people's heels up very muddy slopes, cracking! Went very slowly through the undulating mines-like section, which is where Matt lost me for the 2nd time. Could have gone quicker there. The last 1/3 of a mile was on road, which I was quite grateful of as it meant I could pass 4/5 people.
Running warm up/down 5:00 [1]
