That this virus is carried by ticks appears to be an inference based on a single case. Good enough for the popular media I guess.

I don't drink Bourbon so I should be fine.

As a precaution, people should take extra care to protect themselves from tick bites. These steps include the use of bug sprays, limiting the amount of exposed skin when outside, avoiding wooded areas, and doing thorough tick checks once back inside.

Ok, that sucks, thanks for the heads up. I don't worry too much about ticks where we are because I can usually pull them off really quickly and thus avoid Lyme. There is no info about length of time it would take to contract the Bourbon virus...

Yeah one case out of a population of ~320m is pretty low odds. He was probably doomed to die regardless.
