They usually seem to involve too much running and not enough thinking, so i get bored and lose concentration - and however fast i'm running I always feel like i'm not running fast enough...
The best urban races involve seeing new and interesting places. Luckily I have a broad definition of interesting, though Aboyne may be stretching it.
I thought the course was well planned - no one can claim Aboyne is the most technical urban area, but the course made good use of the best bits and the forest sections added variety. Shame at least 3 times I lost time due to switching off because the locals "I know where that is" attitude came into play!
Haha Jon, I always find that in Edinburgh for the big weekend I get to trying to work out which building the control is on, and how I would usually get there from memory, rather than reading the map with has all these extra alleyways I never knew existed on. I think the planning was good, and it was nice to get in the forest.
The planning was fine, just the format can lead to too much dead running (but then i'm a wuss and get bored after 30 minutes of most forest races too...)
