Managed to amaze Sydney people today with the use of knurling! It was on the end of a knob used to tighten an attachment to a table. Thank you - and hey I never thought I'd have the opportunity to use that word but I did. Will make sure I dazzle junior junior this weekend with it too.

Well invest 2 minutes of your life googling it and watching the you tube video of how it is done.
Basically hardened metal rollers pressed against the rotating surface which distort it to create the pattern.
Then you can even talk about the range of patterns available and sound like a machinist.
If managed properly you only need to keep one or two facts ahead of someone else to sound like a genius ;-p
