Appears Ali had a great split to Radio 2; Go Ali Go!
Looking at her vs Klysner so far, looks like it will be a course with plenty of opportunities to go up and down the placings throughout...
Yeah, looks like Ali gave some time back to radio 3. Fooey.
Looking like Ali will at least be first to finish. (That's gotta be fun.)
And looks like Alex is doing better now after an iffy start ...
Yay! Ali can now say to the end of her days that at one point she was in the lead at the WOC long final!
I wonder, does she get to sit in a "podium chair"?
if she does, I hope it's comfy... she's probably going to be there for a while yet
Argh, had video for about a minute, but now its dead.
OTOH, I have a dot for Alex. Seems she took the road left from 7 to 8.
Still no video; I'm very sad.
anyone got an international link for SVT or YLE or similar? they may have better anticipated the bandwidth required... I've seen some nice single frames of the action so far...
All I get now is "Please wait for the broadcast to begin".
ARGGHHH.......sniff, sniff.
Unfortunately SVT isn't broadcasting the long. Bought the WOC-cover of the long but it doesn't work like you all report. Is it possible to listen to Per Forsberg somehow?
Cat Taylor off to a terrific start.
Alex is getting some TV time.
But maybe not the sort of TV time that she'd appreciate though ... doh!
Way to gut it out Alex, great effort.
So... am I understanding this correctly that there has been a 20min delay for the later starters? Is that a timing delay or an actual delay of starting?
20 minute delay for racers 50 on...
My ankles are hurting just watching this.
well...timing delay...
the splits are taking the 20 minutes off it seems
They have fixed the timing on the tv coverage but not in the live results
Emily having a terrific run ...
okay...splits are fixed...
Louise!
(What's the best ever CDN result in the long?)
Ted de St. Croix in the Classic in Australia 1985: 10th.
(That was when there only was the long!)
Emily Kemp, 25th, 2014 and 2013
Really solid run by Louise!
Emily getting lots of tv time!! Go Emily!!!!
Yeah, gotta think it will be a top 20 result, and new CDN best!
Seems that the Calgary club has scored well with their choice of visitors!
Looks like Kyburz made a big mistake.
Come on Thierry ... make up for the middle!
Looks like Kerschbaumer got a free ride there, moving up from 15th to 9th after Thierry caught him.
Hubman dropped some seconds. He'll need to do it on the final run ins.
Thierry ... Champion ... Again. (order in the universe restored)
Lucky number 13 -- gold medals at WOC for Thierry.
King of Middle distance becomes King of Long distance. Impressive.
Looks like perhaps a top 50 for WIll - excellent
(depends on two dubious looking mp's - if reinstated will push him to 51st)
Great results for Canada today. Well done Emily, Louise, Will and Robbie!
BTW the best ever WOC result for Canadian women in the classic/long is Denise DeMonte. She was 18th in Australia. Of course the sport was much different then and Emily's % behind is much less than Denise's. But I'm pretty sure that Emily will beat Denise's 18th soon enough.
Emily was 20th today - in case anyone else was wondering!
Based on WOC 2015 performances I believe (I'm too lazy to check) that the following pre-selections have been made for the Canadian WOC 2016 team:
Women's Long:
Emily & Louise based on outstanding performance (Top 40) at WOC 2015
Women's Middle;
Emily based on Top 40 at WOC 215.
Next preselection will be for one of the three places in the WOC 2016 Sprint qualification race: Top Canadian at the 2015 Canadian Sprint Champs (University of Prince Edward Island, August 20th) will earn that position in both men & women races.
(I hope I didn't miss anything or get anything wrong ;-(
I looked a bit closer at the Canadian Selection Policy and think it worth pointing out some other great performances: Will barely missed pre-qualification in the Long by less than 3 minutes and in the Sprint by less than 20 (very tough) seconds. And Louise in the Middle by less than 30 seconds.
Thanks to all the Canadian team (including coach & team leader) for a really exciting WOC with a lot of really outstanding performances.
Update from Scotland: Emily was hanging out after the finish with her right knee wrapped up and with ice on it. Apparently she injured it (no idea what the specifics are) around the 2ns control. She got 20th while running most of the course on a banged up knee... If that's not impressive I don't know what is ;)
