I have tried to find an answer to my question in the other threads but I have not find it so here we go...
Can someone explain to me how the search log function work? The results seem to come up randomly. What can I search on?
As an example, if I search for "Referenssträcka" (sorry for the Swedish); I do not get any results even though I have written this in many of my logs.

Maybe you can do a search to find the answer.

Seriously though, I plugged that term into the search box in the top right of this screen, hit search and it came up with your log (several times).

Swedish letters might be the problem. I searched your log for Referenssträcka and got zero results. I searched for Referensstr and got 9 results.

Yes, It looks like there is a problem searching for words containing special characters, because of the way they are stored. I will see if I can fix that.

OK sorry for my stupidity, but what's the difference between the "main page search function" (top right) and the "search log function" (in my log)? I do not want to search all people's logs...

OK, Swedish letters seem to be the problem in the "Search log" function... But I have seen other examples where the Search log function behave strange. Anyhow, thanks! I can now find my reference times.... ;)

The main search covers the whole site (except things google can't find).

Mr Wonderful:
harka, a temporary workaround could be (copy paste into your favorite search)

Referenssträcka site:http://attackpoint.org/viewlog.jsp/user_11132

Results for: example given

then maybe you want to "view omitted duplicate results" near the bottom of the page in google, eg.

Several years ago, the search bar changed, and it now seems to be focused more on stuff less than a year old. I'm not certain.

But my workaround is just to go to google and type, for example:

site:attackpoint.org Referenssträcka (five hits, all in harka's log)

edit: It's almost exactly what Mr Wonderful did, but backwards and without the user specified. I didn't realize that when I first read his post.

Thanks for the help! :)

And in case it's useful for debug, ken, substituting the appropriate HTML Entity and enclosing the search in DOUBLE quotes works in harka's log.

"Referenssträcka"

So any umlauted letter gets replaced with the proper HTML Entity (find letter, click, get Entity from top), ä in this case. An encoding/decoding issue ... maybe encode before stashing into the DB? NOT encode? :) UTF-8 site & DB settings? Fun!

Right, the problem is that those letters are sometimes stored html-encoded as a result of some over-eager html-sanitization stuff that goes on.
