DAng I am just about to get on a plane... knew I had forgotten something... a compass that works down there!!!!
If anyone from Down Under is reading this and has an extra thumb compass (left hand) I can borrow, please please please let me know.

Also I still haven't found a ride for the training day. Anyone going that I could get a ride with?
Thanks!

Barbie, I hate to break it to you, but you're missing snow at Silver Star...

One strategy would be to buy one and travel south more often!

Bash - thanks for the torture. In I don't know how many years I have never missed the first ski. I thought this year I was being smart and was timing myself perfectly to come back from Oz, get a week to recover, and start skiing.
I thought I was being optimistic too! I can't believe I am missing so much snow!!! My neighbours have had their driveway plowed already!

Anyway, it's nice and sunny here so who wants to complaint!
And yes, buying a compass here would certainly be an incentive to come back more often! It's fabulous. Now if only I could get over the 17-hour time difference and get my legs back!!!

Have a great time in Oz, Barbie! Maybe we'll see you in the Land O' Snow when we visit next month.

Late November - for 'Bent's birthday. Hope to see you for coffee, a ski or something. Looking forward to getting an advance hit of winter!

Ahhhh... Silver Star in the fall. Just back from skiing 1 1/2 hours this afternoon! Fresh grooming (ok, just a few km, but still), lots of snow, snow on the trees, blue sky and sunshine! After skiing a few loops of the groomed trails, I chugged up to the summit via Aberdeen - someone else had skied up before me, so I had a track to follow. Just great!
