Great. !!! Envious of open access to that data.
That's fantastic! Great work to the whole team!
So,
mapant.fi actually resolves to mapant.se?
Yes, just a redirect there at the moment.
How much processing time did that take?
(And let me add, this is incredible, very impressive!)
We've looked into something similar in Norway since all our LiDAR is about to become open access, but the problem is that the Topo data is still staying locked up for now. :-(
Processing time is one thing human time is another - the time they say this would have taken a human mapper doing field work (at 30hrs/sqkm) is approximated to 3500 years!
Maybe worth noting, this has been mostly Joakim's and Mats's hobby project. I have been mainly just spectating the process over the web and at last stage digging some rare or fresh not yet quality controlled laser files out from various gloomy corners of our national land survey's hard disk drives. And like so often it has been in O tech scene, when Mats enters awesomeness gets to the next level.
@Jagge: On the other hand you did all the ground work - making it possible for others to make something nice with a minimum of work:) Thanks again for your fantastic work!
And if it were not for all those lakes the process time would double!
das ist fantastisch
Does it include the place where Santa Claus lives?
Korvatunturi? We agreed with Santa to leave that corner out. Better respect some privacy.

So, Santa Claus exists! Jagge, thank you for this wonderful gift!
So will in the promotional material for some future Finn event will we see terrain advertised as "a rare opportunity to run on terrain not covered by Mapant".
No it is not there. It is

Cooool! Now I just need to move to Finland. Retirement in 4 years, 351 days. But who's counting?
