The forest maps look really sweet. I would have liked to have gone, but the weekend before WOC?
Looks like it's classic champs for me again. See you there?
Yeah that's a wee bit of poor timing with Nationals and WOC and I guess not enough M21+ men waiting in the wings... I looked a your splits last night, tough about the rubbish feeling race :/
Classic Champs sounds good! Agreed, the maps here look awesome, looking forward to the forest races. Timing is really bad re: WOC, but that's only four guys, three of whom live in Europe anyway so wouldn't reasonably be expected to attend. I'm more lamenting the general top-to-bottom lack of M21s - which is of course just another symptom of orienteering's slow death.
Sorry to hear of the rough race. But dig deep, you have the rest of the weekend to show your stuff. Recovering psychologically from a bad race is difficult, but you have mad game. As to the US Championships, I think a diffuse event calendar, the timing relative to WOC/JWOC, and the relative remoteness of Idaho contributed to the low attendance. Hopefully the revamping of the national event series to emphasize the US Champs and better timing will prompt more attendance, though the low elite attendance is an epidemic problem for the US.
@Gswede Wish you were here, would've been really interesting to see you throw down on this Long!
Looks like you sufficiently laid a smack down on the long. The map looks fun, but really short.
Get ready for the classic champs. We've got another Spanish contingent coming. Brush up on all your Spanish naughty words.
Perfect, I've nearly forgotten all the ones Juanma taught me.
