Here's wishing all good luck to the North Americans at the WOC which are just starting in Switzerland. Just remember, first find #1, then #2, then #3...

And if Brian, James, Eric, Boris, Sandra, Pavlina, Erin, and Karen come a little ahead of the Canadians, that would be just fine too!

Event website (in english) is http://www.olwm2003.ch/index.php?lang=en

Nick Duca and Sandy Hott Johansen qualified for the WOC Long Final today. It is the first time in 6 years a man and woman have both qualified from Canada to the long (classic) final! Congratulations!

Brian May was one minute back of qualifying. Holger Hott Johansen (NOR) and Katarina Smith (SWE) (both married to Canadian were 3rd and 4th in their heats respectively. Good luck to Nick and Sandy in the long finals.

Nick was the oldest in the field. Amazingly how these olders still can compete with young boys :)

The rest of the field is between 20 and 30.

In the long distance finals, 76 percent of the men are under 31 and 74 percent of the women are under 31. In other words, about a quarter of the competitors at the finals are "old."
