I see you got batteries for the HRM. Have you learned anything interesting yet? Do you have any idea of your max HR?

Interesting? Well I guess the most interesting part is that my HR is about 10-15 bpm faster when out for a light jog then when riding at roughly the same exertion. I haven't figure out my max yet, as I'm still trying to be nice to my knee, although I think it's some where in the range of 190.

That HRmax sounds about right. Mine is around 183. Although I've never worried about it, real afficionados determine different HRmax values for each sport. For example, your HRmax for swimming will be lower than your HRmax for running. There are different ways to use the HR info, e.g. planning an array of workouts each week so that you spend a planned percentage of time in each HR zone. There is a tendency for some athletes to feel that they should spend all their time working hard, when in fact a variety of workout intensities would be better. If you're interested, I can lend a book on HR training sometime. Like you, I'm not exactly stretching the limits of my training these days. :-(

Yeah I'd be interested. I started using the Mountain Bikers Training bible last year to plan out my training. This year I want to get back to more Adventure Racing so I also picked up the Triatheletes one as well to see if it doesn't have some stuff I can adapt for AR.
