Same experience today, except walking was not much of an option so I just got soaked for like 12 miles today... at least you can take an umbrella with you when you walk so your not as wet!

lol that's the same storm that spawned like four tornados in Minnesota last week!

I wrapped my books and notebooks in a plastic bag in my backpack and they still got wet.

I'm from Seattle; I don't own an umbrella. But I'm starting to rethink that.

I did the same thing for my books! Two bags, one on bottom and one on top works pretty well.

I thought so too but the plastic had holes I didn't know about. Think I'm buying a waterproof backpack for next time

I use a rain jacket, rain pants, and rain boots (plus a waterproof bag) and it keeps me and all my stuff dry while commuting by bike in the rain. I'm lucky that I can hang everything in my office to dry before I need it to commute home.

I never owned rain boots until I moved to CA...

I still don't own rain boots. But I should.

I hate umbrellas. Can’t move fast when carrying one.

Have you noticed how there are no gutters here? Drivers try not to splash pedestrians, but sometimes there’s no choice.

Living in my goretex and hiking pants this week. At least I dry out pretty quickly.
