MIclimber:
I generally post updates to our Lost Arrow Facebook page, lots of pictures there if you haven’t had a chance to check out. I’m always trying to find the coolest stuff out there for you guys. With a month to go I finished up scouting, I think the course is right in that sweet spot for distance. Waiting to see if some other heavy hitters register which might convince me to make a couple of adjustments which I’ve left open to possibly make harder, longer. The course is going to have a central TA, plus I’m going to allow 2 drop bags, one for each side of the course. So teams should never be more than 6 hours from a stash of resupply of hope! Covering so much ground of course is difficult, but I’m fairly happy with how the 2 race versions will intersect each other. I’ve done my best to put in quite a mix of points, easy, hard, long road runs, some bushwhacking, decisions to take a long easy way or a shorter woods approach, oh and possibly a swim or two for the 24hr folk who really are looking to be in a class all to themselves. CPs are nearly all in white woods and have longer options to get to them thru white woods. In general it will be a fast course because of the robust trail systems between the two parks. I’m excited to see how racers will handle the distance I’m throwing at them, of 60+ miles, mental focus is probably just as important as physical aptitude. The 24 hour course will have about 1/3 of new ground different from last year while the 8hr course will be 1/2 new. I have a couple of weeks left to tweak things before finalizing so if you have any questions feel free to launch them our way.
