PP does display background veg from my ocd, maybe that's an option.

Yeah, my veg settings seem to work really well with hemlock/pine, mountain laurel, and slightly denser areas of saplings.
That said, I assume you're working with the 2006-2008 PA data. Once the data is at quality level 2, oh my word what a difference. Does Allegheny county have any higher quality data?
