Lack of any races meant I wanted to mix things up a bit, and seeing as running isn't an option currently (due to a pulled calf, but I was advised not to run too much anyway) a kayak seemed like something else I could do, So I bought a used one.

Yes Adrian, people do paddle them over here..... though more surf skis than K1's around this area it seems

Kayak designed for ocean paddling. You sit on top of it, in a sort of bucket seat (which has venture drains in it) so that if you capsize, it doesn't fil with water. Tend to be longer, like 21', and more stable than racing kayaks due to the waves you will encounter
