Discussion: Advice on Tights

Advice Desired:
I have always orienteered and adventure raced in lightweight tights. I've enjoyed the small amount of extra warmth in cooler temps and they never bothered me in heat (I run cold by default.) The leg protection is appreciated when bushwhacking.

However, my old Mammut tights, which were perfect for me, have finally all given up and I need to look at finally giving in and replacing them. The ones I love are no longer made, and I can only patch holes SO many times.

Trimtex seems to be the way to go here, but I can't seem to find a US-based distributor to order from. Are there other equivalent options out there?

Other full-time tight wearers - what do you recommend?

I don't necessarily need compression tights; my previous ones weren't quite that tight, but they were nicely snug and I never had to worry about them getting caught in a bike gear or anything like that.

I have a pair of Sugoi tights that are pretty indestructible, though they are a little thick for summer weather. Just got a pair of Trimtex tights for this season, we’ll see how they hold up.

Noname supplies the US Team uniforms, and has a US based vendor.

You should look through the O-store on line catalogue. The prices may look a bit higher but those are Canadian dollars so you can count on a price reduction to about 80% of the listed price when converted to US $$. Sports supplies cross the border duty free and I believe tax free, too.

Hasn't the $US / $CAN exchange become less favorable (to the US) of late, or even flipped?

The US/Can rate has recently become a little bit less favourable for US shoppers, but nowhere close to "flipped". The $US has gone from about $1.25 CAD to $1.20 CAD in the last month or so.
