... how to get the tracks into AP. I've linked the 235 with the computer using Garmin Express, and downloaded (or is it uploaded?) the tracks successfully, and I can view the GPS track using Garmin Connect. But I can't figure out where the .fit file resides, to upload to AP.

Also, I have Garmin Connect on my phone, and I successfully got the tracks from the 235 into Garmin Connect on the phone, but there didn't seem to be any way to send the fit file to my computer or to AP on the phone.

I think the FR 235 is fairly commonly used, so I'm sure this can all be done OK, but I'm not figuring it out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

When viewing an activity in Garmin Connect, go to the gear on the top right and choose Export Original. This will create a .zip file and inside of that appears to be the .fit file.

1. Go to the website. Don’t use Garmin connect mobile site or app. You need the GPX file and the mobile app does not allow that (easily).
2. On the Garmin connect website (after syncing your phone with your watch so your activities have uploaded), find your orienteering activity. If you want to use your phone, go to https://connect.garmin.com/desktop
3. There will be an icon that looks like a gear. Select it and download the GPX file
4. Use route gadget something g like this:

Hope this helps and it wasn’t too lazy of an explanation which I tend to do.

When your 235 is plugged into the computer, it will show up as a removable drive. You can browse the /garmin/activity folder to access .fit files directly.

Or you can set up automatic import to AP from Garmin Connect here. Most people are using this method.

Thanks Ken, and everyone else who answered. I will spend some time on this today, and I'm sure I'll figure things out with these tips.

I just wanted to report back that I have things working now. My first attempt was furlong47's suggestion, which did work; it took a few steps to get it into AP, but I did get it in which is more than I was able to do before. I tried the link that soonerjcb gave (the connect.garmin link) but I got a 404.

Ken's link https://attackpoint.org/garmin-connect-setup.jsp didn't work on my desktop; I tried it with two browsers (Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox), and in both cases, I got a spinning wheel that never stopped even after waiting for several minutes. But when I tried it on my phone, it worked fine, and I'm now linked automatically between my 235 and AP. I did a walk/run this morning, and when I logged on to AP, it had magically been entered. So thanks again to everyone who offered advice!
