I had no idea such a thing existed until finding out that a junior from my club is going to run this in Scotland this year. So I am curious if any schools in the US or Canada are considering sending teams to this? Judging by the impressive attendance at the Interscholastic Champs in Texas last week-end, there should be some schools capable of fielding good teams. So does anyone know anything about this? Would be cool to see some representation from North America.

Wow, Boris that would be awesome. I really wish I had known about it sooner. I don't seeing any school being able to fund a trip to Scotland within the next two months. But it sure is something to think about for next year and the future.
Do you know if this is the first year of this event or it is something that we just haven't seen or heard about before? I would love for someone to volunteer to search this out for me and get back to me about it and how they think we could go about getting a team or two to the event in the near future.

This event has been going on for many years and I am shocked that the US has not heard of it. It happens every 2 years and in 2006, when i was in England i ran for England in Slovakia. i have mentioned it to some US coaches but the idea never materialized. There is a problem that it is only for people of a certain age, not just being in school. This year, in Scotland, to participate in the event the competitors MUST be born in the years 91-92 for the older category, and born in 93-94 for the younger category. I was born in the year 91 so i will be able to compete, but the US has not registered a team therefore i don't think i'll be going unless someone acts very fast. there are 2 categories within the 2 age groups (hope that makes sense),
-one category is a school team, where 5 members from a school team will run
another category is a select team where 5 members from any school can be in one team.
so as there is a boys and girls division there is 8 different categories:
91-92 Boys Select
91-92 Boys School
91-92 Girls Select
91-92 Girls School
93-94 Boys Select
93-94 Boys School
93-94 Girls Select
93-94 Girls School
---------------------------------------------------
its probably too late for the US to enter now but i hope this gets passed around and maybe, using the recent Interscholastics results from Texas, come up with 8 teams of 5.
i remember it was expensive but it was definately worth it.
If you have the power to make this happen please do so as it is a once in a lifetime opportunity!

I've emailed the event Organizer about when the registration date expires and i will note you all when he has replied. in the meantime i suggest that we look at possible teams.
At the Interscholastics Champs, Texas there was a great turn out that many people have acknowledged! if there was a high placing Varsity school team which consists of mostly Freshman, Sophomores, and possible young Juniors then they will be able to go as the 91-92 school team. In the 91-92 select team i suggest finding out the age of the top 10 runners from the Varsity courses and see if they fit the age requirement. same apllies for the Middle School teams.
a few names that i know of who could go for the 91-92 boys select team are;
myself (Huw Stradling)
Lyons, Nathaniel
Meeks Amos
