BAOC held the 10th annual Golden Goat event at Almaden Quicksilver park last Sunday. Both the Golden Goat and the Kid courses are now available on RouteGadget. Visit
http://baoc.org/wiki/RouteGadget for introduction or go directly to
http://baoc.org/gadget/cgi/reitti.cgi to draw/view routes.
For the Goat (11.6km/1025m/19c) there was one forked control. In addition you were allowed to skip any 2 controls, even consecutive controls or the forked control. The Kid (6.9km/615m/10c) had no fork and you were allowed to skip only 1 control.
Because of the forked control and other control skipping options, I ended up setting the event as a Score-O. That is, RouteGadget only knows about the Start and Finish locations. All other control circles are included directly in the map image. When drawing your route the blue line pointing to the Finish should follow you throughout your route.
Even though e-punch was not used and, thus, there are no splits, you can still run the animation. Each competitor's speed is simply averaged out over the whole length of his/her route.
Even if you are OT or DNF, you can still draw your route. But, if you are DNF, you are not included in the animation as you don't have a finish time.
Take a look!
