I remember the story of an orienteer approaching Subaru for a sponsorship and they declined because so many of us already drive Subarus.

I think at one time, Salomon said the same. Well that market sure has changed.

Yeah we have our name in to get the 2024 Crosstrek once it is out later this spring/ early summer and will sell our old crosstrek to AG! So even more Subaru orienteers/adventure racers.

Oh the other car in the parking lot was a Rav4 and DGL has a sponsorship with Milton Toyota.

Same story here, where I used to live in Perth one of the Subaru dealerships had a deal with orienteering WA but they dropped it for reasons unknown - possibly because all the orienteers already owned Subarus and they weren't likely to be expanding the market anytime soon.

What, no Subaru EV? That sounds like the most orienteering-est car ever. You can even do math for route planning within battery range, almost a charging-station rogaine.

We had high hopes for the Solterra but the range is weak for living in Ontario’s near north region given the current charging stations. example: We can’t get to Killarney and back on the Solterra’s range.

That's my concern too. We do a lot of driving in areas that don't have much infrastructure. Even just getting groceries is a big deal.

Yes, the Soltera and Toyota BZ4X twin sadly have short enough range to challenge your route planning skills more than others.
